Matt Rudd spoke yesterday at Design From Beyond The Web, a seminar at Publishing Expo 2011 in Earl’s Court, London. There was much discussion about how new platforms are effecting design and publishing. Matt suggested that designers can welcome the fast-changing backdrop without fear. He argued that many of the building blocks of communication are the same in the new world – words, pictures, colours… designers can still draw on their experience and knowledge of design history when designing for new platforms.

The other speakers included Paul Farrington from Studio Tonne and Julie Strawson from Monotype.
